The Review

Rhetorical Analysis

When I wrote my review, I decided that the audience that I would be targeting would be college students in similar situations to me. I believe this target audience would gain the most out of reading a review of The Woods Coffee Shop because, like me, many college students rely on a good cup of coffee to get through the many stresses of college life. When I was writing my review I decided to focus on three aspects of the coffee shop that I believe were the primary reason as to why people continued to keep coming back. These three reasons were the location, the actual coffee, and the environment. I decided to write my final draft of the review inside of The Woods Coffee Shop at Boulevard Park in order to get some extra help in coming up with some of the final details.

The final draft of my review ended up being completely different than my first rough draft. At first I had decided that I would write my review in a very direct, educational manner, which outlined specifics but was very impersonal and boring. After re-reading my rough draft, I felt that I did not really have a good target audience and I felt that my review was lacking something. After thinking it over for a little while, I decided that it would be smart to head back to the drawing board and start again. In my final draft, I decided to take another angle and I went in a completely different direction which should help my overall review.

While writing my review I kept trying to find ways to integrate my interviews into my review, however I could not come up with a proper way to insert an interview without it sounding either abrupt or forced. I found the process of writing my review very difficult because I kept talking about what I thought about the coffee shop but in a review, my opinion is the least important. For the final draft of our review it was required of us to publish an online version.
